Re: pulling 5th wheel on dolley?

Hi Brian,
I have seen the transport companies pulling gooseneck horse trailers with the dolly you are talking about. I don't know were you would come up with one, but also most horse trailers that are being delivered are not loaded to max and 5th wheels tend to have quite a bit more weight over the hitch post. What size of 5th wheel are you trying to haul? If you are not too far from Broken Arrow (outside of Tulsa) I have both 5th wheel and gooseneck set up. I could haul it somewhere if you just need it moved one time. PM me and let me know.

Later,
Grant

I dont need it moved as of yet, the drilling rigs in this area are keepeing me busy for now. I just get tired of unloading my truck every time I need to pull it. Its a 30.5 ft with a 16 ft slide out and I think it weighs about 10K. I have considered putting a ball further back on my bed. I should have enough weight to handle it further back... I weigh somewhere in the nighbor hood of 13K before I hook up to anything.

And as far as moving it goes, I apprecate the offer but Wildman isnt very far away, and Ive trown a few bundles of newspapers off for him. So he can move it for now.

Thanks
Brian

Something simualar to that is what I had in mind, except with tandom axles and I want to pull it off of a 2 5/16 ball from my reciver hitch. I know backing would be almost impossibe, but I can always put a ball where my vice mounts on the very back end of my bed to back it in somwhere. (vice is mounted on a 2" reciver tube)

I think with tandom axles, I could mount it just in front of center between the axles and it would pull like a dream. Plus I would have an extra set of breaks. Im just not sure how legal it would be

Brian just remember about 6000 lbs is a little to much for the rear bumper, it will raise the front to much.

Re: pulling 5th wheel on dolley?

I thought of this as a joke but now I kinda like the idea.
Only draw back is the airbrakes but you could remove 2 of the wheels to lighten it a little. It definately has the capacity to haul your 5ver. Can't beat the price either.

Tow Dolly

OR, maybe this one: Tow dolly 2

6K wouldnt be on the bumper of the truck, it would be on the tow dolly (If I decide to build one) That is the reason for the tandom axles on the dolly to take the weight off of the reciver ball. and for handling the weight, my reciver is mounted to 6 in channel iron that has 4 inch channel running back up to the main frame on the bed. I have a Graham Welding custom bed on my truck built by me

Thanks
