My 95 f-350 has a service body on it. The top of the rail is 66 inches from the ground. Is there any chance I can pull a fifth wheel with this setup? I figure that I am too tall to make it work out.
Thanks a lot

I think your side boxes will be to high. If you look at a 5th wheel hitch in a regular pick up you can almost see the hitch from the side. Dont think you can see the hitch with a U-bed. You wont have any truck to trailer clearance.

Lets see that is 5'6" right? I am sure you COULD get a hitch mounted that high (on some kid of blocks between cabinets) But you have raised center of gravity, wind resistance, etc.
I really would look at TT (bumper pull) as a (cheap) option. Or you could set up bed for easier removal. Or just have to surch for 5th wheel made for that height.
I am looking into the same subject. I am looking at a used truck with a diamond utility bed Eliminator series. The bed seems a little more "low profile" than most utility bodies. I think in terms of towing the 5er, its all about the height difference between the bottom of the bed and the top of the utility bed. The sides of this bed are a little higher than a standard pickup bed, but so is the floor of the bed I believe. Like a flat bed, a utility bed may have a taller stand off the frame than the stock bed did. So other than trailer levelness, i think a lower profile utility bed may work. All about the height of the hitch in relation to the top of the bed i guess.
Looking for anybody else doing this?
I am certain it will require a flipped axle trailer and be a little higher, but looking for opinions.

Depending on the 5th wheel you might be able to convert it to a gooseneck type of hitch with an extension. Don't know ratings or max weight they can handle. I haven't done this, it's just a thought. Either way it would sure scare me to go up or out of a steep driveway with it! I think the above idea about just going to a standard travel trailer is a much better idea!
