Receiver Hitches?

What brands of receivers are You satisfied with? I have a chrome DMI 10" drop bumper with a bolt-on 6000# CURT Mfg. receiver tube and I need to upgrade to a 12,000# receiver. It HAS to clear the bottom of the bumper...either above the 5/8" x 4" bar or beneath it...
For those of You not familiar with the DMI bumper it weighs about 150#, main beam is 5/8" thk. X 4" wide hanging from two 1/2" x 4" brackets bolted to the frame of the truck. And the cover is chrome plated 3/16" thick steel with diagonal braces to reinforce the outside edges. It's rated Class V, 10,000#/1000# but a pair of the bolts the brackets bolt to the frame with are only 14MM OEM and I don't trust them with that much weight.
Best looking receiver I've found yet is a REESE 12,000#/1200# number 45002. Looks like it bolts onto the bottom flange of the truck frame with a total of eight 1/2" grd. #5 carriage bolts. The CURT equivalent only uses six. Any other receivers I should check out?

Re: Receiver Hitches?

Valley, Drawtite and Reese all sell a hitch that are very similar to each other. Rigid also has a very HD hitch with weight ratings that are very close, if not identical to the 12000/1200.

Re: Receiver Hitches?

Anyone have experience with PUTNAM? I made up My mind on a Reese Tow Beast and the local shop quoted Me a Putnam rated 15,000# WC/16,000# WD for $150 less. Plus it's supposed to clear My spare tire & 10" drop bumper where the Tow Beast was only 12,000#WC/14,000#WD and MAYBE it will clear the bumper.
