I'm looking to buy a fifth wheel here in litle bit and was wondering about the differences with the reece 16k and the 18k. My fater in-law has a 16k and the head looks like it flops all around, enough his wife has to hold it steady just to hook up but the 18k series has springs or something like that to push it to the back for easier hook ups. My quesion is, is the 16k really that floppy and is the 18k series really worth the extra money?

I have a 16K Draw-Tite which the same as the Reese (Same Company)
Mine "Flops" because it has 3 axis of movement which is what I ordered. This enables the trailer to travel on uneven grades, turns and Hills without putting excessive strain on the trailer pin box.
As long as you keep it lubricated you can connect very smoothly without a bang. Takes some practice.
Never used the 18K hitch. Get the slider hitch for a shortbed truck.
