Regular sway bar vs. Reese dual cam?

I have a 26ft, 9500# toybox I tow with the X in my sig. I use the standard slide-bar type sway bar that mounts to the right side of my WD hitch. Anyone here use the Reese dual cam set-up? Can you recommend it over the single bar slide type? Does it really help?

I have a little sway from time to time and was wondering if this would be an upgrade worth doing. I looks like it can be added to basically any WD set-up.

Thanks,

Alin

Re: Regular sway bar vs. Reese dual cam?

I have used the Reese Dual-Cam for 15+ years. I also have the addition friction type anti-sway for extra stiffness when needed (heavy side winds). They dual cam works well and is actually easier to hook up than just the trunion bars.

Try it, you'll like it.

I pick up my new TT with the Reese dual Cam this week. I'll let you know how it is after I break in the trailer this weekend.

Re: Regular sway bar vs. Reese dual cam?

Dual sway bars is the way to go/ I have it on my rig and as I cant afford to pay for the higher priced set-up. The dual sway bars do just as good a job as those do. Understand and follow the directions of the dual sway bar, believe me you would not think again of the higher priced set-up. I am not knocking them they are absolute good products but I am immensly happy with the sway bar. Everything is easy about it.....

Planned upgrades are a new and better turbo and larger exhaust pipes than the 21/2s that are already under the rig/ would like a 6 spd tranny but dont know if that is a feasable or smart investment yet.

I enjoy mine. Works good. Easy to hook up and gives me good control.

From all I've read the Reese dual sway system is great. With that said I've been towing a 26' TT for the last 25yrs using a single slide type swaybar like you have. In fact I've actually worn one out after about 80K miles . You do have to adjust them periodically since by their design the linings do wear and I make sure that the metal slide bar doesn't have a build up of lining on it. They also need to be tight to work right and after a while I have had to add a piece of metal between 1 and 2 thicknesses of a quarter under the adjusting mechanism to account for the wear of the linings. When mine if properly adjusted I get almost no sway. Your trailer is heavier than mine, but mine "humps" up to almost 11' in the rear so while not the top of the line I think you should get good sway control with what you have.

Larry

If your gonna put that kind of money into a hitch system why not go with the Hensley(sp) system and do away with all the sway. It will pull like a dream.
