Has anyone mounted these Rickson wheels on their trucks, we have a 1997 F-350 4x4 crew cab 7.3 P.S.. we haul a 4 horse trailer with 14 foot LQ's the trailer weights about 18,000 lbs or so loaded with hay try to keep 40gallons of water empty while we tow. It puts about 4000 lbs extra bringing the truck rear axle weight to around 7100 lbs, we have over loads an airbags which only squats the truck about 3-4 inches, but want to install the 19.5 inch commercial wheels an tires to get to a load range F,G or H tire. Would like some adive please . thanks to all that reply Bob Wallach
did you have to cut the fenders out to install the 19.5 wheels with tires , or was that just for looks?? how do they drive and ride? what load range are they are the weight rating ? thanks a bunch Bob
Im running Rickson's on my truck, and they have worked out great. I cant say enough good things about my dealings with them. Ie got 16 ply tires, but I should have gone with 12 ply. The 16s are just too stiff unloaded. They are weaering like iron though, which is always good.

To answer the question a 19.5 tire is the same distance around as a 16.
the rim is larger and the sidewall is smaller, can hold more air and more wieght. But you get a stiffer ride.

Sorry but you would be wrong. The 265/75R/16 is 31.8" tall, while the 245/70R/19.5 is 33.4" tall and the 265/70R/19.5 is 34.4" tall.
I am putting the 245/70R/19.5's on my truck instead of converting to a dually.

Wayne is right, I put 245/70X19.5s on my GMC and had to change the rear from 3.70 to 4.10 to make it pull the same.
Go ahead and put the 19.5s on your truck, it's the best thing I did to mine. Very stable and wear like iron. Towing at speed at max weight puts no heat in the tires at all.

Well with a F-450 with low profile tires and trailer with 16 inch tires I took a tape measure and measured around the tire and the two tires were about an inch bigger on the 19.5 so dont think that is much difference in milage were did you get your measurements from tires not mounted.
I totally agree with Halfnut - I've pulled some ridiculous stuff and haven't had problems, the tires wear like you wouldn't believe, and the guys at Rickson are pretty good to work with.
One of the best mods I've done on my truck, to be sure. Whatever truck I get next will be getting another set.

An F450 or F550 has 225/70X19.5 duals, which have a single tire weight weight rating of 3640lbs each, and a diameter very close to that of a 16" F350 tire. At that weight rating there is no point switching tires and wheels. We are discussing the single 245/70X19.5s which have both a higher weight rating and a larger diameter.

The original poster has not said what tire size he is looking @ he can get tires that are the same diameter as his factory tires to fit the 19.5" rim. or more specifically tires that are within 2-3% overall diameter.

I was going to change gears, but I think I have decided to go with a US Gear Underdrive. They are about $2,600+ the cost of shortening & lengthening the driveshafts. But then I still have the highway gears for when I am not towing & with it in under drive I will have the equivatent of 4.66 geaing & a total of EIGHT gears to choose from
The US Gear unit can be used with an exhaust brake while the Gear Vender can not.

You are correct. BUT, he wants to increase tire weight rating by more than 300 lbs I am sure.
Stock 265/75/16 has a weight rating 3,420 lbs, Diameter 31.8"
In 19.5 a 225/70 has a weight rating of 3,700 lbs, Diameter 32.6"
a 245/70 has a weight rating of 4,900 lbs, Diameter 33.4"
and a 265/70 has a weight rating of 6,500 lbs, Diameter 34.4"
