Driving my flatbed bumper pull today and the running lamps went out about 5 miles after I turned the lights on. Brake/turn/hazard still work fine. I got out the volt meter thinking maybe just a wire on the pigtail was the culprit. With the truck running lights on, I could get no power to the running lamp prong on the truck. Again, brake/flasher fine. I have both a 4 prong flat plug and the 6(7?) prong round plug on the truck. I didn't have power to the running lamp terminal of the round one either! I looked at the fuses, and it appears to me that the brake and running lamps for the trailer share the same fuse (which is OK). Why have I lost power only to the running lamp terminals on both outlets? Its a big wire loom, and it was dark so I didn't try tracing it yet. I hope someone can tell me where I might look for a problem.
Thanks
Are you sure about the fuses. I had the same thing happen to me. I had turn signals and brake lights but no clearance lights. I would recheck them.
good luck,
Steven

Yep there is a separate fuse for the TT package, check them. If it's blown, It blew for a reason though,, so you may have a problem in the trailer too .

So you guys are saying that the running lights for the trailer do NOT run through the fuse for the brake lights etc. for the trailer? Then what fuse do they run through? I looked at the list of fuses in the owners manual and that is the only one I saw that had anything to do with the trailer. Running lights on my truck still work. I guess I could check all fuses :S
And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there was something wrong with the trailer when(if) they blew. I found a couple of exposed wires that I fixed in my search.
OK I'm just an idiot. When I printed the list of fuses, I left off the page that had the fuse that popped. DOH! So it was a popped fuse. I put in a new one and POP! Apparently the wires I fixed weren't the problem. Problem was a running lamp bulb that popped out of its crapily designed socket and was grounding out across the base. All fixed now! Thanks for the replies.
