If you have 205s on your trailer, then I would change the wheels to 15x6" wheels then go with the Cooper ST225/75R15D. In fact, that's exactly what I did.

My Cougar takes the 225's D range as well and will be getting Coopers when these Mission ones are worn out or 3 years old....I can't say anything bad about the Missions however they are of Chinese origin (Nanking rubber IIRC) and I question their experience and expertise in RV tire manufacturing simply because I am not aware of any sized market for large , heavy RV's in China. Cooper has been around a long time and seems to have maintained a reasonable reputation.....IMHO one tire problem on my RV would quickly outweigh any extra expense involved in putting new tires on. Then again I have generally put on 4 new Michelins if I have a flat on any of my vehicles. Yep...overkilll I know.

Carlisle makes a 225/75/15E tire. www.carlisletire.com Look under products, trailer tires, radial trail. 2830 # capacity at 80psi versus 2540 # capacity at 65psi. Of course you have to upgrade the rims and valve stems to handle the 2830# and 80psi, but this will be the next purchase I make for my Cougar 314EFS. Carlisle also sells some real nice aluminum wheels in the 15" size with an 2830# certification.
Also, if you look on the right side of Carlise's home page at Resources and then Trailer Reference Guide, you can download a PDF of all Carlisle trailer tires and Wheels. They have aluminum wheels with the round holes that match the Ford Factory Wheels.
A man I go to Church with works for Carlisle and put me onto these. He also has a Cougar and had a blow out of one of his Mission tires that ripped about half the side off his camper. He has now put the Carlisle tires on his trailer.
Just thought you would want to look at all the possibilities.
Take it form me, I thought Carlisles were good, I did EVERYTHING right and still had a near blow out!! Switched to BFG Commercial T/A 16" tires and rims. We will see now.
Thanks for the advice guys....I found some coopers today, have not purchased yet, but think that's the route I'm going to take..not cheap though (110.00) each....but worth the piece of mind and long term investment....thanks for all the advice

I have Carlisle Mobile Home tires 8 x 14.5 on a 16 foot utility trailer that I have hauled 7 tons of gravel on. I use this trailer weekly to haul various loads and have never had a problem.

DO NOT get Carlisle tires. They are peices of sheet! Not only my personal experience, but go to RV.net in the toy hauler forum and it is only the Carlisle tires that get the bad press. It appears that the Michelin XPS Ribs are getting the best opinions.
I agree. I run 225/75/16 Ribs on my trailer, 3 years and they still look new. Around 20,000miles on them.

See my sig for my rig. Montana shows it as a 295RL, but it really 31' 10" overall length. It weighs 10,500# ready to head north.
I regularly replaced the 'D' rated tires which came on it: blowouts seemed fairly common. My own take is that the tires that come are max'd out as to load carrying capacity.
Before I started to Alaska in 2005, I talked to a local tire shop and they ordered Carlisle tires for me. The owner knew I didn't like the Chinese tires that came on the trailer. When the Carlisle's came in, they were "Made in China". The dealer sent them back.
I then found on an RV site a guy who bragged about Denman tires. I ordered at set of them in 15" size with "E" rating. I drove them to Alaska and back and had NOT ONE flat. My brother-in-law, who pulled an identical rig with identical truck and travelled with us to Alaska and back lost 3 tires by the time we got to Anchorage. He then ordered a set of Denman's and had them installed up there. He didn't lose a tire on the way back. We drove every paved road in Alaska and a bunch that were not paved. Not a single "E" rated tire lost.
I'm a beliver in Denman and over-rated tires, now. (Mione were made in Mexico.)
