RV Transporters

I'm new to the board.

I am currently getting my CDL "A" (just so I can learn towing) and plan on contracting to an RV delivery company out of Indiana.
Are there any RV Transportes on the board or anyone that has had any experience in this area?

I have retired from the Army in 1999 and then the US Gov just last March so i have retirment income and healthcare is not a problem

I just want to drive my 2006 F350 dualy around the country on somebody else's dime

Re: RV Transporters

horizon transport is probably who you are talking about. its a fun job, but it will run the crap out of your truck. they transport stuff from me all the time, and the guys get paid like 300 bucks to go from fort lauderdale, fl to ocala, fl. not worth it to me. guy came today with an 06 f350, had 291k on the ticker.

Re: RV Transporters

I have talked to about eight companies, all in Northern Indiana and I have been "ambushing" drivers at a local truck stop to learn more.

I am pretty well decided to go ahead and commit to one of them and have bought a 2006 F350 dually with a 6L engine, crew cab and tow package. It only has 22K in miles (I swear, the salesman said it was traded in on a new one by an older couple who followed the polka circuit in their 40 foot travel trailer).

Good looking truck but more money than I paid for my first mortgage.

Luckily I have a wife who is always pushing me to go "for it"

Re: RV Transporters

Your situation sounds like the best reason to do it. You don't need the money or to make a real profit. If you take it easy it won't be too hard on the truck.

Most companies shouldn't care how much you run, as long as you get the load there in a reasonable amount of time.

Re: RV Transporters

There it is

A good excuse to go for a ride for a couple of months or years.
I just cannot believe this truck. I may have to give up my Honda Valkyrie I may be in love all over again

Hi BudMan5, Welcome To The Forums,

My son took his CDL from a professional driving school for $250. They passed him on the walk around inspection and driving test, then walked him accross the street to the AZ-DMV where he aced his written test. A Physical exam and he had his CDL(A) in 8hrs.

The son's comment afterwards " I'd never had passed the tractor/trailer inspection part of the test if wasn't for the CDL school" And my son had been driving a overloaded semi for 2yrs without a license and ASE diesel mechanic for 5yrs before he took the CDL test.

Buy UNION work UNION. It pays off in the long run
Define Union:
A labor Union is nothing more than united workers with a common goal for better working conditions.

We all are in some sort of labor Union, some are just larger than others with better working conditions!
