shaky tiring ride

hi everyone,

im a newbie when it comes to hauling. i recently starting hauling cars using a 36' gooseneck trailer on 2004 ford f250sd.my concern is whenever i push the speed up to about 60mph the the truck and trailer is shaky/rattles/bounces, it almost feel like i am on massage chair but this is not a good massage makes driving very tiring. when i go over 70mph the shaking/rattling and bounce smoothes out but i dont want to speed all the time. anyone with any ideas on what to do?

Re: shaky tiring ride

Tire or tires may need to be balanced. Also, you might want to balance your trailer tires.

I assume you meant to say, "I don't think its the trailer coz this started from the first day i picked up the trailer .

Therefore, I bet it is the trailer.

I have never pulled a fifth wheel trailer, so I am of no help there. I have seen guys pulling flat bed trailers with smaller sized semis. All of the trailers appeared to be modified goosenecks fitted with a fifth wheel kingpin. Not sure if it was a homemade setup or if it was from a manufacturer.

Also, let us know when you get your trailer tires balanced and if that cured your problem. We always love hearing feedback that cured a problem!

Re: shaky tiring ride

I have a 25,000# Holland Binkley fifth wheel that is mounted upside down on a 4" tube that fits into a gooseneck trailer. The pin goes in the gooseneck hitch on the truck. I've never used it as I bought it for a project that never got off the ground. I've always thought that the Binkley hitches were kinda nice and well built and would now like to build it into a hitch to pull my 5th wheel camper.

Re: shaky tiring ride

You said you were a newbie when it come to hauling. My guess is that you will get used to it. You aint going to pull a 36ft. trailer and not know its there.

Re: shaky tiring ride

I am willing to bet that something is wrong with the trailer set up, wheels not balanced, bearings, axle allignment,ect...
Some trailers just dont tow well, you just may have one.

When you buy your next one, test tow.
