We had a set of 6, 10-plys on order for replacement. Shipped on Fed-Ex, imagine our excitement when we received e-mail confirmation of the completed delivery, and then our dismay to arrive and see a stack of only 5 tires, Great, no new tires to start the weekend trip.
Tracking number updates show the tire meandering across the country past the Texas destination, on to famous sites such as Memphis, TN and further away to Nashville, TN with the estimated delivery changing daily as it travels further away.
Today, 10 days later, the greatly anticipated e-mail notification, that yes, our package has arrived! Upon arrival, the neighbor says, “Hey, your tire came, and I rolled it around back! Boy, it’s a nice one!”
To my surprise, instead of a 16” fit for a dually, I now have an LT35”x12.5”R-18E NITTO Mud Grabber MONSTER that looks like it should be at the Tractor Pulls! Three times the price of what I ordered.
Two Fed-Ex shipping labels, plus a Re-Direct Memphis label…
So if your a member, Lee, in Marion, IL, I have your tire here, keepin' it comfy and I hope your not stuck in the mud waiting for the 4th tire of the set.
Hope we can get your vacationing tire to you before winter's over!
Ya gotta love mail order! I guess I have the mis-fortune to have to buy tires and such enough that I have a great relationship w/my locally owned tire store. I enjoy going to THE owner when I need something. The mark-up on tires is not that high and what they make to mount and balance tires ain't nothin' to brag about, so I don't mind spending a little more locally and keep the money in-town.
Not only that, but if I have a problem - they will go to bat for me, arguing w/the distributor or manufacturer. I only make ONE phone call, they'll do the rest AND give me a tire to drive on right NOW!
I bet 5 more of those tires you got would look sweeet on yer doolly!!

Today, a month later, Fed-Ex delivered the same NITTO Mud Grabber tire back to me. I peeled back the label and underneath Yes, Lee in Marion IL., I have your vacationing tire again.
I spent a fare amount of time the last go around with the different companies trying to resolve the issue and convince all parties involved of the errors. As a result of the ‘He said, She said’ argument, I never received my 6th tire and had to purchase it locally. It then took three additional calls over a 10-day period to receive a refund.
So members, what is the proper thing to do? Get on the phone and start the process all over again, or just post the $250 tire for sale?
If you can "reasonably" discover where the buyer or supplier are located & make contact, I would let them pay to ship it to them. Otherwise, you have a free tire in case you get stuck on your vacation. LOL You could make Fedex keep it if you don't want it.
