Single duallie?

The other day I saw a 18 wheeler tractor with single rears. They were about the same width as the duallies would be. What's the story on these, what are the pros/cons, do they have them for pickups, etc?

Re: Single duallie?

There super singles. They supposedly save fuel mileage through less friction and there 400 Lbs lighter per axle lighter truck and trailer make for a heavier load, more load equals more profit.

Re: Single duallie?

Years ago I saw a guy use a wide pickup tire to get the same effect but it looked like crap and I don't think your load rating would be very good

Re: Single duallie?

There's a guy here locally that's got a one ton dodge duelly but he is running only one bid tire on each side. It actually doesn't look bad as he has an rv style bed. I don't know exactly how wide it is or what the weight capacity is of it though.
