Some info

I have a 00 X 2wd... I know I can tow 10k, and have a 7 way plug.. round with 6 tonges and 1 center female. But does the truck have the control for the electric trailer brake, or is that something that is aftermarket?

Re: Some info

It's aftermarket. Ford didn't have a production brake controller until 2005.

Re: Some info

Good news is that you can buy a trailer brake controller (Prodigy, Draw Tite, etc.) and the system should basically be a plug and play 15 minute installation. The wiring for the trailer brake controller is already under your dash. Find the threads in this forum on brake controllers if you would like some guidance in this regard.
