Springs or Air bags?

Hello everyone. I am looking for something to help level the truck when I have no fiver on. I squats about 1-2 inches. I did have a set of coil springs the worked to keep the truck lever, but bottomed out on the very first trip, short trip, I took. So I took them off.

So what would you recommend? I like the idea of bags, but the cost is a factor. Anything else that would work to help with towing, but not be harsh when not? Thanks for the help.

Some people swear by Timbren Load Booster's while other... like me, prefer RideRites. Only 60 bucks seperate the two...

Re: Springs or Air bags?

Air bags are the way to go!! You can keep the truck level as you add weight. I love mine.

I agree, I have the Ride Rite and love them. Also easy to install.

Re: Springs or Air bags?

I like my Timbrens. Lifetime warranty. Installed in 30 minutes and work great. No holes to drill; use existing holes.

Re: Springs or Air bags?

See my sig for my rig. I put on Helwig Helper springs to make the truck level as it was squatting. They can't be "un-sprung" when the 5'ver is not loaded onto the truck...so it rides rough all the time. Next time, if there is a next time, I will go to air bags with a fitting that lets me air them up from an air source at a station...or my own compressor. Don't hang a compressor on the motor as this is just one more dang thing to tear up and you'll need odd-size belts to boot.

You can let the air out of the air bags when not towing and ride a bit smoother.

Or buy a dually, like I intend to to do.

For the relatively small amount of air that those air bags would require, you could just stash on of those little 12v air compressors under the rear seat, and be able to adjust the air pressure any time you wanted...I have one and it's about the size of lunch box.
