I agree, without an EGT gauge you are risking engine damage. Just put it back to stock for towing.

I hate those programmers, they are a hassle. A flip chip is better in many ways.

Re: superchip Hi pref tow

I wouldn't use a tuner at all without a egt gage (pre turbo is best). I can see way over 1250 in tow safe towing my 5er. It is much heavier than what you are towing, but the principals still apply. Going up a long grade towing anything with a tuner installed could result in very expensive bills (EGT gage is very cheap compared to melted piston crown!) Gages!

Re: superchip Hi pref tow

Unless you got a decent exhaust system I would not tow anything unless it was in stock or tow safe mode. Get some guages.

Re: superchip Hi pref tow

I would not, I had a super chip 1705\downpipe and pulled my camper a couple of times with out gauges the trailer was about 9k. Then I installed gauges, injectors, intake and a chip then pulled a 3k trailer up to the mountains and on a grade the egts would get to 1300 in a blink of an eye and that was in my stock or 40 tow program. I cringe every time I think about towing with the 1705 and no gauges. I did not have a intercooler like you but when it gets cold out and I see a little smoke when at idle it makes me wonder did I do any damage, that was about 3 years ago and I still have not done a compression test, my truck runs great but I will never do that again. Good luck

Frank
