SuperChips 1705 MAX Micro Tuner 1999-2003 7.3L

What setting is best for towing a 7000lbs. fifth wheel trailer?

Ford owners manual states, maximum towing weight: 10,000lbs for a pull behind / 14,500lbs for a fifth wheel.

Does that mean the settings for towing a fifth wheel would be:
TOW SAFE: 14,500lbs / TOW PERF: 8,700lbs / HIGH PERFORMANCE: 450lbs

***********SUPERCHIPS INFO***************************

TOW SAFE: +80hp and +120 Ft-lb. torque, towing up to the manufacturer's specified maximum weight limit.

TOW PERFORMANCE: +90hp and +175 Ft-lb. torque, towing 6,000 lbs or less.

HIGH PERFORMANCE: +110hp and +200 Ft-lb torque, NO towing.

Re: SuperChips 1705 MAX Micro Tuner 1999-2003 7.3L

If I were you I would not tow anything with a superchips tuner without exhaust upgrades and gauges. I used to tow with a superchips tuner and the exhaust would get very hot. I would end up having to back out of the throttle and put up the hills to keep the EGT's down. I would highly recommend that you Be very careful while towing with the tuner installed even on tow safe.

I say this because I did not see an info in a signature on what you may have done to your truck.

Keep Strokin'

Re: SuperChips 1705 MAX Micro Tuner 1999-2003 7.3L

I had one in my 02 7.3L, Stock exhaust and intake and had No problems towing my 10,000 lb travel trailer on either the TOW SAFE or TOW PERFORMANCE settings.

I had gages and had no problems with high EGTs.

I was 19,200 lbs combined going down the road.

I had the SCMT installed on my truck for over 85K miles, over 20K miles towing my trailer.

NO! I don't think so. If you tune it down to tow mode you should be alright as long as you take it easy on the hills.

You are now the proud owner of a Superchips code reader. You may want to try calling Superchips but they will charge you if they do anything.

i have the superchips 1805 flashpaq, i never see over 1200 tops pulling a long hill on the economy setting, i leave it there all the time, its the middle setting on mine.if i go over say 20 psi of boost it sets off the ccheck engine light. so i try towing under that, even the biggest hills i never need full throtle though, just tryinn to save up some money for one of jodys sct programers now.
