Superslide

Hey guys.

I have a Superslide hitche (fully automatic) which I purchased last November along with my 39’ coach. I just purchased a new long bed truck and had the hitch moved from the old truck, which was the original pull vehicle, to a new 08’ long bed Ford. Although the Superslide is designed and meant for a short bed truck, I was assured by the installer that the hitch would be just fine and work properly with the long bed.

I am having an issue with the top assembly constantly sliding when I brake. When I take off from a stop, the hitch slams rearward. When I brake the hitch slams forward, shaking the whole truck. This is getting extremely annoying. It did this only once in awhile on the short bed truck and not enough to warrant contacting Pullrite. Is there a special pin or something that I could use to lock the sliding part of the hitch assembly in place to prevent it from moving when the vehicle is in motion?

Thanks very much.

Re: Superslide

Do you have the special plate welded or bolted to your pin box on your fifth wheel?
If not, the hitch will turn and slam like you are describing.

The pin box needs the plate to stay aligned with the sliding part of the hitch. If they separate, then the hitch is free to turn and slide fore and aft (not good).

Where in so cal are you?

Re: Superslide

I do have the special plate that's bolted to the pin box....So when it's not connected to the coach it's moving forward and rear. I'm in So Cal near Redlands.

I probably should been have more detailed...This is happening without the coach being connected to the truck. Hope this helps

Re: Superslide

Pullrite has a plate that bolts in behind the part of the hitch that slides backward. This plate will keep it in place. This plate also allows you to pull trailers that dont have that special plate on their kinpin. Of course, with this plate installed on your hitch you loose the rearward slide feature, but that only matters if you have a shortbed.

Re: Superslide

If the hitch is sliding with nothing hitched, all you need to do is tighten the bolt at the front of the hitch that controls the nylon block. This will make the hitch stop slamming around and make a smoother ride empty and loaded. My SuperGlide rides in my 99.5 longbed and my 06 shortbed perfectly!

Yep, it sits on the rails behind the sliding part of the hitch & keeps it from sliding backward. It's held in place with a bolt that drops down between the rails that threads into a plate below the rails.
