Time for 7 new tires

Well, my 5er's tires are showing some cracks,,even the spare which is in the shade and never touched the ground. I know this has probably been discussed a lot in the past, but i need you guy's advise on the best trailer tire.

My 5er is a 39' toyhauler..with 225/75/15 (3 axle) I need the heaviest duty that i can run on a 15" rim. Greenballs any good? I have marathons on my car trailer, and boat trailer, but this 5er is heavy** The tires on there now are Generals..no troubles until they started to crack.

By the way, John Wood Transmissions ROCK!

Last time I needed trailer tires, I planned ahead and ordered Denman ST225/75R16E. Yes, load range E. Very few outfits make that tire in load range E. My dealer didn't have any, of course, but he ordered them and it took a couple of weeks to get them.

On the following link, scroll down to radial tires, then look for that size with 10 P.R. (ply rating). 10 ply rating is the same as load range E. http://www.denmantire.com/catalog/22.pdf

If you can't find a Denman tire dealer nearby, call Denman at 800-334-5543 and maybe they will tell you their nearest dealer to you. Or maybe they will ship you 7 new tires direct from Denman.

Second best trailer tire in that size is Cooper Custom Trailer Plus. But they don't make it in load range E. Cooper Tires. Then click on tires, then on light truck, then on Custom Trailer Plus. I have those on my 5er, and they have been great. But expensive. The Denman in load range E will probably cost you less than the Cooper in load range D, but most decent-sized towns have a Cooper dealer.

If you plan on keeping the toyhauler for a while, I would consider biting the bullet now and going all the way with 16" wheels and tires.

Many more options in 16" tires when you need to replace again.....plus the comfort of knowing that you have enough tire capacity for the load.

I agree that JW Transmissons "rock" ......so does a 1977, 21' Tahiti Daycruiser.

I will be getting new tires soon as well.

I noticed that the Denman cary Bias Ply ST and Radial ST in the same sizes and weight ratings. Is one better constructed than the other? Or is it towing charactaristics that are different?

thanks for the input guys....I looked at the denmans..seem pretty good. Will the stock weekend warrior chrome steel wheels take 80psi? I haven't had one of the tires off the rim to check. I will do some research and let you know what i come up with. Yes i know 16's are the way to go but DAYHUUMM..the cost! the General Ameri-stars *SP* that were on there have a rating of 2350lbs or so...isnt' that pretty good? they did crack..but i've had the trailer in the sun for five years..no blowouts.....or should i still go with what you guys are recommending?

Denman Tire -

Here is a place where you can get the Denman Express 10 ply load range E tires in your size for $106.95.

Currently, I have the Power King Towmax® Radial ST Trailer load range D tires on my toyhauler, and so far, they have had no problems. They are made in China. Also the STR model is available in load range E.

If the tire is costly...then its probably worth it. As mentioned before, I would look into 16" wheels too..good luck!

I have greenball towmaster load range D on my TT and so far no trouble, but I have not towed in extreme heat yet. Whatever tire you decide upon don't forget to replace the valve stems with a good quality metal type, they are just as important as the tires. Good luck with your choice and I'm sure you already know how important the proper air pressure is!

I run the Maxxis trailer tires on my race car trailer. Good tires IMO but only load range D in a 15" 225/75 but they are good for me. I'll buy them again at just over 100 bucks a tire.

I use same size tire on trk and trl. This way I move trk back and always have good tires on trk. Not to mention I get to write them off that way.

That Warrior is a heavy trailer.
I would step up to the 16" wheels/tires if I were you.
I did on my LE3905 and am so glad I did.

Michelin XPS Ribs are the strongest E rated tire on the market.
Spend the money 1 time and you won't have to worry about them again.
