Re: torklift tiedown
I have an '86 f350 crew cab with tork lift tiedowns. The truck originally had full-length steps from front wheelwell to the rear wheelwell. The tork-lift installation required getting shorter steps that ended just at the rear of the rear door.
I think the tork lift system is better than others I've seen. I now think that the weakest part of the system is the camper tie-down points, which are secured by an eyebolt. The eyebolt goes thru a 3/8 inch hole in a 3/4 inch wide 1x2. These pissant pieces of wood tend to buckle when you try to cinch the tork-lifts down to spec.

Auto: 1987 MBZ 300D Turbo 3.0 Liter 6 cylinder engine. 205K miles. Working on all the "little things" that previous owner neglected. Putting in wvo tank.
