let me see now 2 belgians in a 4 horse trailer that sometimes doesn,t have brakes. (not the way i like to work but not my trailer or horses) F350 05 cc 4x4 diesel using non w/d hitch never had a single handling issue, then again my baby also has the camper pkg with rear sway bar etc, that might help things too. i think there may be some differences between towing pkg and camper pkg extra stuff they add. i do know that with my truck camper fully loaded i can go around any corner on any road in British Columbia at or above speed limit and the wife doesn't even notice, corners like my old Trans Am

the torn from the truck story started in a dodge dealership as i hear a guy tried to pull a tractor out and got the truck stuck then both at the same time with another tractor in wyoming or somewhere

but towing is a user preference
does it feel right
does it feel safe

the empty trailer will not need a wd hitch but loaded it may

but some ppl think 8000 lbs is 8 tons which it aint its 4 tons and he may thing you said 8 tons/16000 lbs

buy a hitch that can convert to wd they are out there i think reese has a good one then if you see the need then get it if it tows fine leave it be

and you realy want safe reliable and stable look at the hensley arrow hitch its top of the line
