Here are the rigs we took on vacation last week
2006 Dodge Mega Cab diesel,4x4, auto, all stock except 35" Toyos and an Airraid intake towing a 39' Sandpiper 5th wheel.
2008 F-450 Crew Cab,auto,6.4, 4x4,4.88, all stock towing a 40' Rampage 5th wheel.
And finally my 2007 in the sig. towing my 32' Weekend Warrior bumper pull.
All the rigs tanks were empty, all are fiberglass sided and each rig contained 1 Yamaha Rhino and food for a family of 4 for a week, including BEER!
Both 5th wheels have bedroom slides, mine has none, and I know the stickers on the sides of trailers don't mean much, I would think the two fivers are close to the same weight and mine should be quite a bit lighter, huh, the damn Dodge smoked both of us on all the hills, by a large margin too. I think if the F-450 was geared 4.10 or 4.30 it would be better cause he couldn't catch me on the long hills. I'm still trying to figure out why my engine temp gauge indicates I was on the edge of overheating on 3 long grades, EGT's were good, boost was up, SCT on tow setting, but temp was just below the red. Well, my friend with the Dodge sure had a good time bagging on me and my F-450 friend all week!

I don't have any leaks or puking issues, I just think maybe my 07 is gutless and the 08 is geared too low. I bet that 450 would tow his 40 footer all day every day and not break a sweat. I guess I'm just pissed that my "Dodge lover" friend more or less made fools of us. For what it's worth, me and the Dodge lover friend have both owned our trailers the same length of time but he had an 04 Dodge quad cab all stock and I had my 02 F-350 with a 7.3 and 40's in the begining. On our way to the same location in 05, up the same hills he couldn't get out of my way fast enough! Sure do miss my 02

I just got back from eureka springs with two of my buddy's.One was a 2006 dodge 4 door cummings with a 31 bwfs sunnybrook with a road king with a swivelwheel trailer. It had a edge box on 60 under the hood. Mine was a 01-7.3,auto with 3.73 gears on 60 edge evolution btm muffler.I had my Nomad on a swivel wheel trailer also. My other buddy has a 04-6.0 crew cab pulling a 31ft cameo with a bike and swivelwheel trailer also. All truck's got around 11mpg,but the dodge was a little stronger pulling up the hills. And I actually had to work more with driving style to keep up with both trucks.
