Toyo LT325/65R18, A/T, can you recommend for my F350 4zx4?
Bought a new 2006 F350 4x4 Supercab with Camper Package and FX4, it will be delivered to my local dealer this week. I'm lookingat the Toyo M/T (available in only Load Range E) and Toyo A/T's (available in only Load Range D).
The A/T 35's (LT325/65R18, 121R, 8 ply, M+S, Load Range D, 3195 lbs @50 psi, DOT CSVP) would look great but they are only Load Range D whereas the factory tire is a Load Range E. Don't yet own a camper or an average size TT, but how can I know ahead of time if these A/T's have sufficient load-carrying capacity?
Also, with 35's, will just a Tuff Country Leveling Kit be sufficient, or will I need to lift the front and rear? Anybody know how good the A/T's are in the snow and mud? Lastly, is an Ultra Type 164 Wheel, 18x9, going to be sufficiently side to handle 35's or should I go to an 18x10?

The A/T's do not have enough load rating for the truck, simple as that. That doesn't mean you couldn't get away with them, but do you really want to? That is why I went with the M/T's, which I love, but unfortunately my fuel mileage has suffered because of them...

I recently traded the 05 below for an 06 F350 Supercab 4X4 and took the tires and wheels (stock) from my 05 and put them on the 06. Tires are 35/12.50/18 Toyo MTs and they fit perfectly without even any type of lift. My tires have never rubbed with the stock suspension. Didn't need a leveling kit or anything.
Only lift I got was the price of the Toyo MTs - $300 per tire. However, the tires are great.

I had the Toyo AT's on my 2003 F350. (265/75/16) They are a good all around tire. But they are not a Great snow or mud tire. They have a very good hiway ride, are quite, give reasonable tread life and will work for average snow use. i.e. running to the ski resort.
But they are not a serious OFF Road tire. I got stuck numerous times pulling in and out of constructions jobsites in the mud. Where folks with a MT tire keep on moving.
As far as D vs E range tires. The D range tires are basically an 8 ply tire that runs at 65psi while the E range tires are a 10 ply that run up to 80 psi. The E range tires will have less "Squirm" when heavily loaded. The squirm will cause a D rated tire to wear faster if you carry a load often. The 10 ply at 80psi, forces the tread to stay squarer to the pavement when cornering.
325 mm D rate tire may have a load limit close to a 315 E tire. Because it holds more air. But it still has a softer sidewall.

Thanks for your thoughts, I ended up ordering the Ford 20"x8" 5-spoke rim and put on Goodyear Wrangler AT's 275/65R20's, which is the setup that I saw on an Amarillo at Riverside Ford in Sumner, WA. Thought it looked good, shouldn't need levelling kit or lift kit, it's a 34" tall tire E rated LT275/65R20 E 126S OWL 7.5 - 9.5 8.00 11.3 34.1 3,750 @ 80 $351.95. Haven't seen em mounted yet, hope to pick up my new rig on Saturday or Sunday!
