Trailer Accessory Power

I have an '06 f350 that i use to pull a 1998 Circle J Riata horse trailer. There is a small spot light mounted to the back of the trailer that we have previously used to light up the area when loading horses in the dark. On my '06 Chevy there was a fuse missing in the under hood fuse panel that, when put in, would allow power to flow through the accessory wire in the trailer wiring. Well, in my 06 350 I cannot manage to find which fuse I need to put in to activate that wire. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Owners manual has a diagram.

On my '99 F450 the trailer power is fused with a 30 amp fuse, which is in the fuse/relay box on the left fender well in the engine compartment.

Don't know where it is in your '06, but you likely have two fuse locations like I have in my '99, the one in the left lower dash and the one in the engine compartment.

This F450 will be replaced with a heavier truck, maybe a Freightliner or a Peterbilt around 25,000 GVW. AND with a big manual transmission.

DOes it work off of the constant charge /power wire on the 7pin plug? I know on my 02, if the key is off the charge wire does not work.

Right, check with a test light, my old '91 is constant hot, but some guys have said the later trucks are only hot with the ignition key on.

1. According to the dealer here, the trailer plug is only hot with the ignition. I just had to ask last week.

2. On the 05, the passenger compartment fuse box lists the following related to towing:

Location 107, 20A, trailer battery charge
Location 301, ISO relay,Trailer tow battery charge

Also, Locations 20,28, 38, and 101 are trailer related.

In the Power distribution Box in the engine compartment:

Location 9, 20A, Trailer tow turn signals
Location 20, 10A, Trailer tow backup lamps
Location 201, 202, relays for right, left turn

If the trailer plug is not hot with the ignition, I would look there, particularly at 107, 301 the battery charge circuit. But work your way backstream from the plug. If the plug is hot the fuse is not the problem.
