I am wondering about a used trailer, I find my 32' is not going to work for long!! LOL
I found a flat two car (Not wedge)"Hide a bed" Extendable trailer, It shortens to 32'...then can go to 47',, and THEN OUT TO 53' with a 32" extendable addition on the end for a total of nearly 56' !!!! SHEESH!!! I also see they make extendable MULTI car trailers, (Semi type) And they are out of business now,,,(About two years from what I can tell,,) Not a good sign I would say... The real advantage I see to this trailer is if I was "Dead heading" or only had one or two cars on it for part of a trip,,I could "CUSTOM" build it ,,and not have a 56' trailer in traffic.
I kind of wanted to stay away from the traditional WEDGE trailers, but also wonder about This BIG TEX trailer, I know they come highly recommended on here, dont they?
That doesnt appear to set QUITE as high as the "Normal wedges" Or maybe I am just imagining it in the picture.
I would love a quicker response if that is possible!

Jim what do you have against a wedge? Sounds like that extendable trailer is a copy of a Take 3 Trailer. Big Tex makes the best trailers around, but I don't know a thing about their car haulers. What does it weigh?
Check out the ramps on that Big Tex trailer THEY SUCK. That trailer is set up as an enclosed trailer hauler. Thats what the rail down the middle and the hitch balls sitting on the deck are for. Hitch ball slides into the track, and is then winched up. Pretty slick process actually. Not saying it would not make a good car hauler, but you'd definitely need to figure something on those ramps. The enclosed trailers wont need nearly the departure angle as a Corvette or a Mustang with ground effects. Just something to consider. Out grew your new trailer already huh LOL?
BTW, The only reason that trailer dont look as high, is because the dummies have the gooseneck hitch resting dircetly on the ground. That aint a single jack on the front, thats the friggin hitch, the jacks are twins farther behind LOL not the way I would store my trailer.
heres some advice.Get a good welder because big tex is light built expensive junk and Im just keeping things short and simple.
Are you one of those parking lot rig owners or do that type of work?
I haul cars and trucks as well as a hobby but their junk.I have a 53' lowboy with a super heavy duty hydraulic electric cathead winch mounted in front. This thing can pull a ship onto my trailer.I got it from a utility company I used to work for that was intentionaly used to pull 5 miles of cable.
Just curious. How many vehicles do you haul? Are you leased out to some type of dealership where you gotta have the whole nine yards worth of insurance and be bonded blah etc.?
If the law wasn't such a pain in the arse id make the trailer as wide as i wanted to but it has to be at 102" max and I don't like that because can you imagine how many vehicles i could drag up my trailer?
Usually all vehicles are longer than 102" of course but If i had an oversized load permit I could haul around 10 mid sized cars and have 30k lbs going to the salvage instead of hauling them long ways and only getting a few or so.
If you are one of those parklng lot rig guys then i can't help you there because i don't deal with that kind of work.

I dont know what you mean by parking lot rig guys.
I have my own DOT Authority, and find cars to haul for dealer trades, also an online source.
I have done dealer trades for a couple of Infiniti dealers.
Just did a haul to Houston this last Easter weekend.. Left Fri. morning. Hauled these back, Went down with an 02 Lexus and a 97 Toyota Land Cruiser. With that load back ,,after I got that Super Crew on, I WONDERED if I was going to be able to fit that CRV behind it Saturday Morning!
It fit by about 8" on the back tires,, ( I could have found 6 more inches infront of the truck,, MAYBE!) So I am terribly limimted on what I can haul.
For instance,, there are two vehicles coming from Indy to St.Louis that would pay well,,(much more of what I WOULD LIKE to do,,not the 1,000 mi trek to Houston..maybe once in a while,,) The two out of Indy are a 04 Caddy Deville, and an 05 Extended Cab Silverado!
They would not fit on my puny trailer!
I also dont understand your BIG TEX comment,, They have came HIGHLY recommended on here and also on the CB while I chat on the highway.
My Kaufmann has been "Dissed" some,, I keep my eyes on it and have not used it for many thousands of miles,, Even my Insurance agent gave me a call,,said they have had a few "Issues" with the couplers on Kaufmanns...(READ,, UNCOUPLINGS AND ACCIDENTS! ) SO,,I check mine every stop,,and have actually looked the welds over with a magnifying glass! (I know that is not as good as a magnaflux for finding bad welds.. but I feel a bit better)

My take is he hauls junk/crushed cars. (what do I win?) or is it time for someone else to guess?

Ever heard the phrase "divisible load" ? I can guarantee all the truck drivers on here have, and it means that you CANNOT get an oversize permit to load a car sideways. If the load can be made dimensionally legal, then there is no permit available for it.....
BUT WHAT IS A PARKING LOT RIG GUY????

Hi jim,
From my CB radio days, I think "parking lot" was CB slang for a car hauler.
Know what a "lot lizard" is
On multi-slide trailers, do the guys that own one actually use the slide or does it get set too one position and never used???

Buy UNION work UNION. It pays off in the long run Define Union: A labor Union is nothing more than united workers with a common goal for better working conditions.
We all are in some sort of labor Union, some are just larger than others with better working conditions!
Used to be called a "portable parking lot" = car hauler. Stay away from the "lot lizards". Your wife will thank you.
Those ramps look short, but remember the trailer is sitting VERY low in the front right now. Once you put it up 3+ ft in the air, the ramps will straighten out. Granted they will be steep at ground level, but not so bad of angle break at trailer.

The guy that has this "Adjustable" trailer says he changes it all the time,, pulls into an auction with a 32' trailer,, to pick up 4 cars! Pulls two pins,, drives forward and extends it to 47-53'! Then when he delivers them to where ever he is going, pulls the pins and "Dead Heads" with a short trailer! Sounds pretty nifty,,just wish the company was not out of business,, doesnt speak well for the trailer in my opinion,,I know business' fail all the time,, but was it because the trailers sucked??? LOL
