Trailer tires and fuel mileage?

Does anyone out there have any data regarding different tires on trailers and the effect on fuel mileage?

My thought is that by going to a load range E (LT 215/85/16) that would require 80 psi to match the same weight rating the my ST 235/80 trailer tires at 65 psi, would this lower the rolling resistance much?

Re: Trailer tires and fuel mileage?

I can't give you an educated answer. However, I would GUESS that there would some slight improvement, but maybe not even enough to notice. My current horse trailer has "G" rated tires rated at 110# pressure. I run them at about 100#.
