Truck wires for brake controller

What colors are the wires for the brake controller? I have looked under the dash for the plug on the right hand side of steering column behind the fuse panel with no luck, I did find a set of wires that were not connected to any thing, and the wires are red, blue, white, black and light blue with a red tracer. Any suggestions?

Re: Truck wires for brake controller

Thanks J for the info. I pulled the dash apart to replace lights in the instrument panel and found the harness cut and untapped. Now it’s off to the stealer to get the plug to fix it.

Re: Truck wires for brake controller

O.K. the parts guy at the Stealer miss understood me and said that I have to order the wire harness to get the connector $300.00 or more. I don’t want to hard wire the brake controller and none of the local salvage yard has a truck this new. Does anyone know if there is any place that this connector could ordered new or used? I would like to put the truck back to original as possible.

Re: Truck wires for brake controller

The harness was cut and the connector was removed when the original owner removed his brake controller. I took the lower panel off and was going to hard wire my controller, but I changed my mind. I would rather get new or used connector so I don't have to tear the whole dash apart to remove the brake controller.

Re: Truck wires for brake controller

The easyest way will be go to the auto parts store and get the four wire trailer plug male and female and hard wire them so you can just unplug the controller. Or find a good junk yard
