We have a 2004 turbo, deisel, crew cab, dullay ford F-350 we haul a horse 3 horse trailer with an 8 foot living quarters. This weekend we were making a 4 hour trip to a show and there was a rushing of air and the rmp's would not move. It sounded like the air conditioner was up all the way. As we approched a hill we were in 3rd gear going 40 mph on the foor. It would't go any more we called a machanic it was the tubo hose he duck taped it to see if we could atleast make it somewhere safe. We had to go up another hill it blew off again. We had someone pick up the trailer we only had 1 horse on. Then they towed it to the shop. They "Fixed" it and we went back to pick it up drove a half an hour back and we were going to head to the show. We loaded up and had 2 horses with us this time. In about 25 miles the thing blew again with no waring. Have you herd of this happing??? Any suggestions?? Thanks
From your post it sounds like the hose blew off the pipe at one of the joints, maybe like a clamp failed and fell off when the hose came off. Was it that or did one of the hoses actually develop a hole?
When it went the second time did the hose itself tear, was it cut or did one of the clamps fail (possibly again)? If a clamp, you can help by replacing with constant torque clamps, available at truck part and higher end auto parts houses (NAPA for example).

You probably would do better with this post in the 6.0 Powerstroke and Drivetrain forum.
You blew a hole in the hose the first time. Is this what you did again or did the hose the dealer replace blow off. We need to know. If the hose just blew off then they just didn't install it correctly. It needs to be very clean with no oil residue then install the hose and tighten the crap out of the clamp.
On Edit....I read the post again. It sounds like the hose just blew off both times. Believer has a good solution.
I had it happen on a Detroit S60 climbing Mtn Pass between Vegas and Baker. I was weighing in at around 75,000 and went from 35 mph in 8th gear to 10 mph in 3rd gear in about 4 seconds. Plus the noise it makes really wakes you up fast!
Sorry to all the loyal 7.3 guys, but I traded my '91 7.3 in on a 2002 F250 Ex cab V10 4x4. SCT Xcalibrator2 with tunes by Powerplay Performance. 285/75/16 Toyo M/T's. Took a long time to get used to the ping-pop of a cooling catalytic converter...LOL.

I have never (ok, very rare) heard of this happening before, must be a 6.0L problem. As mentioned above, might want to post in the 6 L forum.

This is a 6.0 problem. I read about it happening in the 6.0 forum. I checked mine and they were all loose.
