V tail gate for 08, F-350, SRW.

My v tailgate on my 03, F-350, will not fit my 08. Anybody know who makes these for the 08's?

Re: V tail gate for 08, F-350, SRW.

According to all the info I have read....tailgate fits are the same from 98-2008 on F-250's and F-350's. I would think that an '03 should work.

I ordered a Custom Flow for my '08. Already have it here and painted to match the truck. Just waiting for the truck now.

If you look at this web page, you will see from the drop down menu that an '08 Super Duty takes a model V-EL26 gate.

Truck Stuff USA

However I bought mine from Moore Truck Acc. as they were quite a bit cheaper. Their menu only shows vehicles through 2005 though. But I ordered the V-EL26 from them. $315 vs. $404...but with the $315 was something like $31 shipping. Still cheaper than the other vendor.

Moore Truck Accessories

These gates have a better latching mechanism than some cheaper ones and are powder coated not plastic. Also when mine arrived, I was surprised to find that it was lockable in the handle.

Hope this is helpful to you....

Re: V tail gate for 08, F-350, SRW.

The 08's have a counter balance tailgate, making it seem lighter than my 03 (heavy). When I took the stock tail gate off, I could see why my old v tail gate would not fit. On the driver side bottom, the old connector is round, on the new one it is rectangular. This gives much slop using the old tailgate. The upper latch is slightly different also, making it difficult to latch. My old tailgate was polished aluminum with a lock in the handle and I really would like to use it. It was strong enough to stand on, say 250lbs. I have tried the old one and it won't work.

Re: V tail gate for 08, F-350, SRW.

I talked to a lady at truck stuff USA and she said the V.EL26 would not fit the 08's. She was aware of the difference in the lower left fitting and the upper latch. She is going to check with Husky tomorrow to see if they have one that will fit. Sure don't want to order one that won't fit. Been there, done that. ckesdad, let us know if yours fit.

Re: V tail gate for 08, F-350, SRW.

Well that is just dandy.....especially since I have already had it painted to match the new truck. They should have their info posted correctly if they are going to sell stuff via the internet.

The brackets on the bottom of the Custom Flow are adjustable and seems to be removable. Perhaps they will be able to sell me the mounting hardware for the tailgate and that will be all that I have to do. Otherwise.....

Anyone want to buy a brand new v-tailgate for an '07 or older Super Duty. I may have one for sale....

Re: V tail gate for 08, F-350, SRW.

OK....The tailgate from Custom Flow for a 2008 is a V-EL28 instead of a V-EL26. I spoke with the manufacturer this morning and she said this was a recent discovery. She also said that the V-EL26 gate, which I have, is the exact same gate with a slight change in the brackets for an '08. She informed me she was sorry for my inconvenience and would be shipping me the proper brackets, at no charge to me, so that my gate will work.

That is standing behind your product....

Now I am a happy camper again...

Re: V tail gate for 08, F-350, SRW.

I talked to Lisa at truck stuff this morning and she had called husky and they told her what you said. They have an adapter for those and she also has an aluminum v-gate that will fit my truck. Part # 15130 on truck stuff usa web site. $459.00. Glad you got yours worked out ckesdad.

Re: V tail gate for 08, F-350, SRW.

Cool JD,

I opted fot the Custom Flow because I wanted it painted to match the truck..It was $315. And we painted it so that it has a break that follows the bottom of the black in the rail caps. It will be black to the edge of the "V" the same width as the overhang on the rail caps. I will post photos when I get it fixed.

What color did you have it painted? and how much are you selling it for?

Joe

on edit: replied too soon. Just noticed you are no longer selling it.
