I had to change mine also. I can't recall exactly how I modified it but hasn't acted up in years. I also can't go look because my daughter took my truck to her horse jumping competition since the P3 controller isn't here yet for her truck Whatever I did it's sure not as nice as what you did there

Where did you get it shipped for $133.00 and are you happy with it?

Be sure to practice with the Prodigy WITHOUT the horses in the trailer. It's pretty jerky at low speeds with the boost turned on.

I've used one for years with an ~8000 LB RV Travel Trailer. I turn the boost off when I get in town.

I think if I used it for pulling animals, I'd leave the boost off. You really have to keep your head out of the cab anyway so you won't have many panic stops.

I hope.

Please follow the setup instructions or watch the video. It is not plug and play but needs 15-20 minutes with your trailer brakes adjusted and warm. After that it ready to role.
Here the PDF instructions:

I've had my Prodigy since 2005. Stops smooth as silk. I am running a 20ft 10K rated H&H trailer with dual axles and brakes. I use B1 empty, B2 with cars loaded, B3 with max loads. Never had anything that you describe. You may have some other issues causing those symptoms.

First day towing the horse trailer with the P3. Smoothest brake controller I have ever used. So simple to set up yet stops amazingly well.

I didn't even feel the need to lecture my youngest on how to use it. It just works

Around 1989 I bought the top of the line Tekonsha pendulum type. It sucked big time. I replaced it with a Jordan 2020 that was the superior controller at that time. I bought another Jordan in 2001 for my new truck. The P3 is even better.
