What length of trailer?

I'm the proud owner of a 1995 F-350 Diesel 4X4 Crewcab Longbox that need's work & It's about 100miles from home! Would the truck fit on a 16' deck car trailer? or do I need something a little longer?
thanks
Doug

Re: What length of trailer?

I would say 20 ft at least.

I once moved an extended cab long bed on a 14 ft.,

and while the tires "fit" on the trailer, without being able to move the truck to balance the load, it was WAY TOO tongue heavy.

So with a CC LB I don't think 16 ft is enough.

Re: What length of trailer?

I've towed those on a 21 ft flatbed tow truck a few times. They fit but not as nice as I wanted. A 16 ft would be too short. A 20 ft might work, but it would be stuffed in there and tongue weight might still be a little high.

Re: What length of trailer?

i dont know about the OBS trucks but a longbed crewcab
wheelbase is 172" which is a little over 14'.

i think i measured my truck as 20 or 21' bumper to bumper.

Re: What length of trailer?

A crewcab longbed will fit on a 18' trailer. I've hauled a few on my 18' without a problem. If you loaded it all the way forward it will fit on a 16' but you might not like how it tows.

Re: What length of trailer?

Remember the truck will weigh about 7000 pounds. Make sure your trailer can handle it. I can get my '94 on my 18' flatbed but I wouldn't want to do it again. Have to go almost all the way forward which makes for too much tongue weight. Back it on and you have a very unstable trailer.

Re: What length of trailer?

I hope it at least runs or you have a winch for the trailer.

Re: What length of trailer?

If you end up going with a short trailer and don't have enough adjustment for tongue weight, you could always put weight in the bed of the truck to help on tongue weight. Just make sure the trailer can handle the weight, and that the ballast in the bed is secured well.

Re: What length of trailer?

You will need at least a 18' deck to get a CC LB. But even then load might not be balanced.

I just bought a 18' car hauler to haul jeep on, I went a little long for jeep, but long enough to load truck on next time it breaks down on me!!!
