I tow a 48' (cargomate)living quaters trailer with my 2000 F 550. It tows and stops fine. But the fuel milage is terrible. To get 9.5 mpg I have to travel at 52 mph, if I run at 65 I get 7 mpg. The truck has a 4.88 rear end ratio.
I would be careful with a 38' trailer. It might be smaller than you think.
I have 22' living quarters (remember 8' is in the gooseneck so they call it 14'), and 26' cargo area and just barely get my 14' race car and a golf cart in with about 2' to spare, the tool cabinets take up about 2'.
With a 38' trailer you will have only 16' of cargo area.
It gets real crowded quick inside.
I believe the "cargomate" and "continental cargo" are the same company My trailer is the one in the brochure.

P.S. Thanks for your service

Thanks for your insight on this trailer, takes alot of guess work out of the equation for me. From the sounds of it, Im gonna need to get it a little longer than planned, but thats ok. Im mostly concered with width, as of now, i will only be a few inches wider than stock, because i plan on using stock width axles. Do you know what the interior measures from wall to wall on the inside?? As for length, I will probably be looking around 14-15ft for length not set in stone yet how much Im gonna cut off the back. When I get home from this deployment, me and the wife will probably take a ride up to a retailer and take some measurements to see exactly what we will be looking as as far as size and living options. Luckly my wife hasnt really imposed a budget for this because she is the one who picked it out. Is there any options that you have that make a significant impact on your overal happines with the trailer?? Thanks for the info

I can't get the details I'm looking for from your website, but as others have noted you're going to be very crowded if you plan to have a 14' + 8' LQ, and still haul a "jeep" and two quads inside the remaining 17' in the trailer. Without going to a super-long trailer, you might want to consider a "stacker" model. Pace American makes a 38' stacker that's 11' inside height. Unless your jeep is really tall, that should do the trick for you. But if you don't like the tall stacker trailer idea, then Pace American makes race trailers with LQ up to 48' inside length. You probably need a "garage" area at least 21' long if you don't stack the toys. Pace American - Shadow GT Racing Trailers

After a large part of a days research I have found another trailer dealer that has the potential to fullfill my needs. LBTrailers Race Trailers and Motorcoaches :: Trailers in stock and on order According to specs that are listed on the website, there 40ft trailers have 20ft of cargo space, now taking into consideration how much crap I would like to haul, I am now leaning towards the 48ft they have listed on there site. They offer a few different floorplans, now I just have to run them by the wife. The price so far as I can tell is cheaper than the other trailer I was looking at. Im close to finalizing the build phase for my truck, and as of now, ill be right at 15ft long, I figure ill need atleast 22ft cargo space to fit tools, tires, compressor, welder, 4wheelers, and other misc crap. Again thanks for all the help, esp Smokey Wren.

They don't show any weight specs, but assuming it is the same as the Pace American 48' non-stacker, then it's 21,600 pounds. So the 2008 or 2009 F-450 pickup with automagic tranny will be right at its max capacity, but not overloaded, with that wet and loaded trailer when loaded to the max.
