Where to get a trailer rock guard?

I see guys with these big "broom" looking things mounted to their hitches to keep rocks from denting their travel trailers.

Where does one get something like this? The ones I've found online are ridiculously expensive.

Thanks in advance!

I see you are in Canada so this may not apply but Camping World has a couple different styles and sizes of rear mud/rock guards. I have a solid flap on the rear of my 5th wheel to protect my boat when double towing. I like it better as the broom styles I have seen seem to blow back too much at highway speeds. On my truck I have a Roadwing mud flap setup that attaches to the hitch. It also has solid mud flaps for the same reason-they aren't effected by the wind as much as the broom style. Roadwing or other brands are available at many places.

Honestly, I can't believe the cost of these things for what they are. I'm going to try my hand at building my own. $200-$350 buys a lot of material and beer to get the job done.

True deal, but I would suggest holding the beer till you are done. Otherwise you may not like the install next day.

I would also suggest using mudflaps instead of the grass stuff. I have never used either on personal vehicles but have been around trucks and trucking for 35 years. Thinking about it something thrown from the road can go through the grass pretty easily, it is a bit harder to go through one of the reinforced rubber mudflaps you see on older big trucks and trailers and those are pretty cheap mudflaps to buy, you can cut them to size with a sharp knife.

THIS LINK will take you to JC Whitney's version - it really is a simple design, I would think someone could make one pretty easily. Even just bolting the mudflaps to your rear bumper would work, unbolt when you do not need them. 4 bolts per side, simple deal.

Just did a quick search and found these hard plastic (these puppies are pretty tough, I have worked with them for many years) for $29 plus shipping for four. You could put the lettering toward the tires if you wanted to and can cut them to size with a jig saw. Anyway it gives you an idea what I am talking about.

Send a message via AIM to BlueMuleTrucking
I have a set of anti-sails that have their own frame that mounts behind the spring gusset.

Being in Canada and coping with the perma frost, the broom style won't be worth even looking at. You need something like the Rock guard. Get some old mud flaps cut to length and attach them to an angle iron, mount under the rear bumper with about 4 bolts. Easy to remove when not being used.
