06 F650 Cummins 5.9

My 06 F650 just died on me yesterday...seems to be a fuel problem. It just died like someone turned off the key

I had changed the electric fuel pump about 6 months ago...and there is still lots of pressure there... When this happend, it only had hesitations problems under power.

Any suggestions to what I could be looking for..

There is no dealers around me for 250 miles, so I can't just take it in.

The cummins dealer suggests I take off the computer and send it in to have it scanned...

Any surgestions would be appreciated.

Code reader. Ya need to know if it popped any error codes. If the truck is under warranty..... if not....do what Cummins suggests.

Can be a bad injector, you have to block off one injector (with a special blockoff tool) at a time and see if it starts.

Well after being in the truck shop for 2 weeks, I had to have it towed 200 miles to the Cummins dealer. I had taken the computer to the dealer and had the codes read...and it had about 8 different codes.

It has now been diagnosed that the high pressure pump is the culpret. The shaft has apparently broken. (no low fuel pressure code showed) Should be a new pump in for Monday and fixed for tuesday...then a 200 mile drive to pick it up. The warranty expired in april...and the new pump is $1600 plus labour. Plus what ever the first shop is going to charge me for their time....and the tow bill. (My truck is a flat bed tow truck)..

There was no fault code 2215 (fuel pressure lower than commanded) in the ecm? Thats strange. Those pumps are not bad to do, 3 fuel lines, 1 electrical connector and 3 mounting nuts, then you swap the gear to the new pump and install.
