General DieselDiscussion about diesels in general. All brands are welcome, please refrain from brand wars. Discussions about types of diesel fuel also go here.
They would already be gone by the time that was posted if that was here. Probably the same in truck country. I bet he sold all of em in the first hour.
Better hurry. The speculators that went long are losing their ass this week, the bubble might burst. I speculate that if the oil market resets the actual value is between 60 and 80 dollars. Might be a good time to go short on a few contracts.

That bought PU's 6-12 months ago and what their trucks are worth now!!!!
For instance Edmunds and Kelly price my $38,000 2007 Titan at
$19,083$20,840$22,166
but I find I can buy my same truck on EBAY at $15,000-$17,000. Not too bad $20,000 loss in one year......I think I'll run out and trade......NOT!
For those of you STUCK with recent purchases and think Kelly is the price you are worth, nice pipe dream. You're stuck!!!!

Why? well they lease you a car/truck more so a truck or SUV and in 2 years it's worth 50% or less at the auction!!! They are having to take back a lot of depressed iron!!!

$38k for a TITAN? Wow. I know that you know that new one-ton diesels cost less than that... Wow... how'd a half ton get so pricey?
Yeah, we're stuck with our trucks... but if we're happy with what we got, then it is OK. Never have planned to do anything with mine other than keep it for 10-15+ years.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the bubble to burst... but I'm a newbie market player and have lots to learn. Some folks say oil won't go back down. I don't believe that is the case.
$3 gas by election time or shortly thereafter.

The Dodge dealer in Crystal River, FL, had an ad in the paper on Friday offering 40% off MSRP on trucks. The ad just said trucks.... didn't exclude any of them.
Things are changing....

Whats crude down in the last two weeks 22 dollars?
If a truck sits on the lot too long the dealer has to pay interest on it to keep it there. With the cost of vehicles now I would think maybe that interest is 600-1000 dollars per vehicle. Dealers arent gonna want em sitting around forever.

They won't part with them for a loss either.
20k off a new f250/350 still makes it a 30,000 truck. Not something I would exactly call a bargain.

Went to the Lexus dealer today. I guy traded in a 2006 $77,000 caddy Esclade in on a RX-400 hybrid. His 1.5 year old $77,000 caddy with only 14,000 miles traded for $30,000. That is a good deal for some one that really doesn't drive many miles and 12-14 miles per gallon isn't a big deal.
This guy traded because gas was killing him????? WT(H)eck??? So he takes a $44,000 loss in 1.5 years and GAS???? is killing him? WT(H)eck doesn't really say this strong enough!

My guess would be that he got a 30k inheritance that he blew and was making payments on the other 40 grand.
So that's a 700 dollar a month payment ok. Well, if you add in fuel costs the price goes up another 600 bucks where as before he was maybe spending 300 bucks on fuel.
They probably traded him the rig plus 10 G's in cash and then financed him out another 8 years getting him down to a monthly payment and fuel bill he could afford.
His kids will be paying their own way through college.
