So it looks like I'm ending up with a 1997 Peterbilt with a 3406E, which I'm pretty happy with. Beyond changing injector maps and reprogramming the ECM, I've seen some threads indicating there are simple things you can do to get more power, e.g. from here:

Any thoughts on this?
Also, I do get one shot at programming at least some values into the ECM -- things like min and max rpm, disable idle shutoff and disable the speed governor. Are there any other parameters I should keep in mind?
