I wonder why he put all that work to make the truck of his dreams and then sell it for less then he has in it???

The reserve isn't met.
And he didn't put up much pics. If he was really serious about trying to get rid of it, you think there would be a lot more info and pics in the listing.
No surprise that the reserve isn't met. No one has bid yet.
Starting bid is what I paid for my house in '88.
I know I would love to have that truck! I'll bet the reserve is somewhere about 125-150k, but I have been wrong before. And, like Mad Max said, I wonder why he put all that work in it and then is going to sell it? Who knows, but whoever gets that wont be dissapointed!

If he was planning on selling it, he would've done more of the work himself instead of farming it out. Even with my Super Duty, I'll have a DT466 in it, and likely be driving it with under 10k invested...including price of the truck.
In that idea, I think he's just testing the waters.

swapping in a Ford/New Holland 6.6(12 valve). Ford engine in a Ford! 6.6 vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcflwjpRHUQ
Work truck:'94 IH 4900, DTA466 lightly bombed(#0 fuel plate, timing at 22*, 3 clicks tighter gov springs), Allison MT653, Voith retarder, and straight piped
Sorry for asking, but what makes it worth so much? I looked at what he had on it and I figured 40k max for truck, then about 10k more for the parts he has on it. Only thing I didn't account for is the engine, is a cummins swap in a ford worth that much?
i like cummins engines , just as well as my powerstrokes. but to answer the last question, in my book, heck no. to me it would have just a little more value to me, than it would have if it still had the 6.0 in it.

He is asking way too much in my book. If I wanted a tow rig and had 70k+ to spend on one I would be buying a med duty international or something like that with a dt466 or some other comperable engine.
I remember a thread they posted on engine mounts, how they had used dual isolators, blah, blah, blah because the customer wanted them, no expense spared, etc. Even though the stock high output Cummins pulling engines are using stock engine mounts.
Kind of funny how the supposedly best truck in the world is up for sale. I wonder if they ran into CA emissions problems at registration ? I wonder who is selling it, the owner or AutoWorld ?

very good point superduty. all total i have less than 3500.00 in my conversion project. that includes the 99 model gmc 3500hd,the 12v cummins, and all the stuff to convert from a auto to a manual tranny. i will have to spend about another 500.00 for a clutch and odd an end stuff, but thats about it. with some time, searching, and some sweat, cummins conversions can be done for a lot less than one would expect. from the research and brain storming i have done, i look for it to be a fairly simple conversion. not to knock anyone, but i dont see the sense in paying someone through the nose to do most of these conversions. i'am doing my conversion because i want to do it myself, and i want something different. besides ,the 6.5 that was in the truck , was on a down hill run because of a improperly installed air filter , that all the excuse i needed.

The secret to doing an inexpensive Cummins swap is to do it before the PSD/recipient engine is blown, thus allowing one to sell it for a decent price. Good used PSDs command a good price. Cummins engines can be purchased fairly inexpensively. It doesn't cost much to swap one engine for another.
Another thing one must consider is all the new parts going on the truck. Its not just an engine swap. Its a swap along with a new starter, A/C compressor, starter, exhaust system, rad hoses, etc.
All in all, its very economical.
