cummins 4BT timing

Has anyone set timing on a 4bt cummins, I'm replacing the engine in a Case 95xt skid steer. The old engine is froze up so I can't roll it around to tdc to mark timing. I have the new engine on tdc, the injection pump has a long plug that comes out of the front left side. When the plug is out I can see the shaft and there is a mark on the shaft, I have it timed on that mark. I'm a little nervous because the front cover has to come off to change anything, thought I would ask before tring it out.
