Re: cummins in a ford

Maddog has and he did a great job at it. There have been quite a few who have done, there is even a company that will do it for you (I don't know the name of it though, maybe someone will chime in with it).

If you want a good job, call Autoworld of Montana at #406-727-8915.

There is also a site worth a look cumminsconversions dedicated to Cummins swaps.

Re: cummins in a ford

Just find a 650. You can even get an Allison trans.

Re: cummins in a ford

That'd be cummins-conversion.com. I've heard good things about AutoWorld of MT... they've been very helpful in getting me spun up on conversion options should I decide to convert my truck.

Re: cummins in a ford

From the pictures posted of the fordcummins and other conversions I have seen - Mine looks better then most but it took extra time to make it look that way.

I have some pictures posted on the Cummins Conversion site.

like the others mentioned - Check out AutoWorld.

Re: cummins in a ford

RSP over on the 94-97 forums did a really nice job of putting a cummins in an 80s Ford PU. He calls it his Fummins. I bet he'd be willing to share some pix and advice on the install.

Re: cummins in a ford

I did my Cummins conversion in 2 weeks, including rebuilding the engine. Used some parts from FordCummins.com, but most of it just came from fabbing everything up that I needed. All in all, it was alot easier than I thought it was going to be. The 99+ SDs have alot more room in the engine bay to work with than the earlier trucks, so that helps alot. PM me if you decide to do this swap, I got plenty of tips that can help you out.

Re: cummins in a ford

I think most folks with older trucks are choosing to do a 3" body lift to get a little extra room... I've been considering that option lately, myself.

Re: cummins in a ford

The Fummins

I am not sure why a Body lift would be needed except for maybe an Allison. I am going to put a E40D in this winter. It has a ZF5 speed now but I hate to shift so its gonna have to go. I think its about as clean of an Install as your gonna find. Exhaust on the second page is out dated.
