How much $$$ did you guys end up with in your conversions? with engines seperate if you don't mind.
I'm looking at purchasing a 95 F-350 crew cab dually 4x4 with a 460 but the only way I'd buy it is to put a diesel in it. I'm trying to figure out what I can do cheaper, a cummins or powerstroke swap.
Thanks, Jeff

Factory did not make a dually 4x4 crewcab in 1995. Some one has already started mods. Most that I have seen used spacers for the rear wheels and you still only have the 6250# gross axle rating. Read the axle code tags to verify which axle you have. The pick up dually axle was rated at 7400# and the chassis cab axle was rated at 8250# but will not bolt into a pick up because of the wide pick up frame versus the narrow chassis cab frame.

Sorry it's a Centurion conversion, factory dually front axle added and t case added.

I am not sure why a Body lift would be needed except for maybe an Allison. I am going to put a E40D in this winter. It has a ZF5 speed now but I hate to shift so its gonna have to go. I think its about as clean of an Install as your gonna find. Exhaust on the second page is out dated.

I have seen this truck in person and its SWEET very clean, and looked great on the dyno too.

I don't know what I am doing, I just know I don't have time to do it.
Well I was wrong, it's a dually conversion. I'm not sure I want it now. I got them down to $5100 out the door tonight but it has some problems.
Does any one have an estimate on what it would cost to put the cummins in it? I was figuring around $2000 for the adapters plus engine and will probobly need a tranny rebuild in the near future.
Thanks, Jeff

Jeff. Go on Google or any good search engine and type in ford cummins conversion and you'll come up with a lot of good info.... Good luck...

Thanks Al, I looked at a lot of the conversion sites and got a rough list of parts and adapters I'd need but (around $2000) I'm still wondering if theres some cost (parts) I'm not thinking about.
Thanks, Jeff

From what I've read, the Cummins engine itself will run $5000+ (if you buy one of those factory takeouts or out of a new wrecked Dodge), a transmission built to match/handle it will cost $4000 +/- a few $100, adapters, motor mounts, electronics, and incidentals will run another $2000 or so. So you're looking at least $10k or more just to get it running and driving.
With all that being said, I'd find a rough 89-93 Dodge D-250 Cummins and junk the truck and have the engine rebuilt and go from there. These trucks even with the Cummins can be found dirt cheap (less than $4000) if you look in the right places. Another benefit is having the mechanical injection and ease of making power with the 12v head.

You're welcome Jeff. And like Deerepower said try to find and older 12 valve.. Keep your eyes open for a older wrecked dodge truck.(roll over or rear ended) you don't want major frontal damage. If you find a good "donor truck" take what you need and sell the rest. The 94-98 5.9's have the P7100 inline pump. They are very good... Go for it Dude!
