thank you...

Very interesting post.
Sort of puts the damper on the ideas pf a conversion needing a 3.9 Cummins.
I watched the video several times. Did not hear what HP rating was on this Ford tractor. Looks around 60hp???
Anyone have any ideas about the engine ratings of these THREE conversions?
thanks again...great post...bill

------------A stock 4600 3 CYL 201 CID is 52 HP,turbo would be around 65 HP @ 1900 RPM,that's PTO 540 speed, top RPM is 2300,We had 3 Ford diesel's when we farmed,4600,3 CYL,6700,4 CYL & a TW 10, 6 CYL @ 401 CID,they all had the same bore & stroke, they just added CYL's, the largest tractor Ford made in house was the TW 30 6 CYL turbo/intercooled @ 165 HP, ,they bought a 4 wheel drive articulated with a Cummin's 855 CID and called it the Ford FW series, tractor's of that vintage,1975-1990, were rock solid, with good care you could see 14,000-15,000 HR'S before overhaul, then you have the guy's who only get 3,000-4,000 HR's on one one the tractor look's like it's been through WW2 ,no Idea on size in the perken's 4 CYL,no information on what's it's out of to base it off of,all I can say was it seemed to push that F150 right along & the 40 plus MPG would be great for someone running lot's of mile's to work.

Found this via that story link:

Shade Tree Conversions at Shade Tree Conversions.

The only thing I would worry about this kind of conversion, is the emissions. If you are in an area that does NOT get tested, go for it. But since the engines are NOT rated for on-road use.... the EPA might fine people.

Those are not small bore engines. 201CID. A 4600 family engine can be rated 55 HP at the PTO, so the engine is about 60-65HP. I've got a Ford 3000 diesel that I removed when I put a 4630 engine in my Ford powered grape harvester. I think it idles fairly smooth, but that's w/ a heavy cast body and no springs. Might 'wiggle' a bit more if inside a truck w/ a suspension.
