Diesel prices getting a little whacky?

I live in Northwestern New Jersey and I've noticed diesel prices slowly dropping lately (down to $4.37 at the Valero on the state highway), but today I was in Central New Jersey for work (Edison) and counted three "off-brand" stations that had diesel for $4.19! A little further down the road I saw prices ranging from $4.25 to as much as $4.69. Prices seem to be all over the place-is this the case across the country? I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it?

WRAPUP 1-China auto fuel imports to fall in Olympics month | Reuters

As it turns out China had been hoarding diesel fuel specifically to power generators in case of power grid failures during the Olympics. Of course the demand there is still huge, but their gearing up for the games would explain a part of the huge spike we've seen over the last year. How low can it go? I'm not all that concerned as my Vegistroke kit is all here and ready to be installed, but I still have to fill the old diesel tank once in a while.

It's hardly limited to Diesel fuel. It's the fundamental behavior of all retail sales.
This is an old article, but it's timeless - as true today as the day it was published:

Gotta love it. Crude drops and it takes 2 weeks for prices to be effected, but if it spikes the retail prices just with-in hours.

Bought diesel at Pawnee Nation Conoco Truck Stop & Casino west of Tulsa yesterday for 3.999 a gallon. You just gotta' love that 106 gallon transfer tank in back of my truck.
