DT466E and DT530E.......power upgrades????

Are these engines on the same block??

What is the maximum RPM when the programming is changed?

How much power can you get out of these with a chip only?

How much power with a chip and injectors?

Thanks, Phillip

TS makes a box for the E motors and DP tuner will custom burn you a program also.

Re: DT466E and DT530E.......power upgrades????

Poster is correct TS has a D-466 tuner/box but I'd stop at 300 HP for a DT-466. The 530 and now 570 have other upgrades to deal with additional torque and heat. We own many DT-466's and if not abused they will go 500K no problem. If you are driving your 466 with light loads I suppose going over 300HP would work but for constant pulling very heavy loads there is a lot of heat building.

Think this way the new 6.4 Ford and the 350 L-11 Cummins technically make the same power. Think the Ford 6.4 will pull the heavy constant loads a L-11 Cummins 350 will for very long? NOT!

Re: DT466E and DT530E.......power upgrades????

My powerstroke is making about 300hp to the rear wheels and is doing great at 300,000mi. The 466 won't do more?

Is the 530 a better engine then? What is the difference? I don't know anything about the 570.

Thanks, Phillip

Re: DT466E and DT530E.......power upgrades????

Your power stroke is in a 8,000 Lb. pickup. The DT will be in a 15,000Lb. MDT. not to mention the almost double frontal area.

The MDT will have to work much harder to get to and maintain highway speeds. if you have ever driven an MDT you will know what I'm talking about.

How much do you have your PSD floored to get to and keep moving? In a MDT it can often be over 75% of the time spent driving. its not making the HP its keeping the motor together while using it.

I drive one of three International 4700s that my employer owns everyday. They aren't very heavy at all.

I believe a 4700 cab/chassis only weighs something like 11-12,000lbs. My F350 weighs about 9000lbs and runs like a greased rocket.

The 466 is a dog of an engine. 210hp or so in the trucks at work.

When I have my horse trailer on my pickup, it has every bit of the frontal area of one of the 4700s and weighs more but I can hold whatever interstate speed I think I can get by with.

The 466 is a DOG.

The 466 in 220 form is a good long lasting engine. In 300 form it gets up and goes very well for what it is. The DT can be tuned up to 500 HP but you won't have a 500K mile engine any more. The DT in 300 HP form has quite a bit of torque and will pull any LEGAL load you can put on it.

I drive a 06 4400 DT466 that is 260hp. The truck weighs around 18-20k. It does pretty good for power. Has pretty good lag off the line. I would rather it be around 300hp. The mileage is terrible at 5-7mpg. Now the mileage is great that its been in the shop for 6 weeks.
Overall it can use more pep.
