Which engine in 1990 IH 4900 - Diesel Forum

I own a 1990 IH 4900 4x2 bucket truck. We are trying to figure out exactly which engine is in this vehicle and find some technical data for it. All of the data panels on the truck are obscured and the engine has only serial numbers. It is a 6 cylinder diesel with Bosch injection system. I believe that this is the DTA466 but I am not sure.

Help with identification and links to a tech manual would be appreciated.

Engine sn is 468TM2U59260 - these were hard to read so I am not 100% sure of accuracy

Indeed, that's a DT/DTA466.
You can get tons of info by the last 8 of the VIN too. The dealer can tell you nearly every component the truck came with.

Thanks for the confirmation. I found a serial number database on this site which confirmed the engine type.

Does anyone know of any online sources for an operators/maintenance manual?
