F350 Cummins 5.9

I decided against rebuilding my 7.3 IDI turbo, and dropped a cummins into my truck. It is not running yet, but the engine is mounted and the truck is about 75% complete.

Re: F350 Cummins 5.9

Two issues, I don't have anywhere to host them. Also this will be the only time I'm on the internet for a while.

over 140hours into the conversion so far. Wish that I could have done a full resto though.

Re: F350 Cummins 5.9

Thats awesome!

I intend to swap in a 5.9 when my engine finally gives out. I guess I had better start looking because those 5.9's are going to be worth their weight in gold pretty soon.

Did you just buy the engine or did you buy a donor truck?

wow all that room will be nice
how about a bbq grill on the inner fender? or maybe a sofa?

let us know how it is to work on

and if youre taking pictures id love to see more this looks like a good option with 11 mpg and no bbq grill

Re: F350 Cummins 5.9

I bought a donor truck. 163,000kilometers. only ever had synthetic.

When I decided to do this conversion it was suggested that I set the engine back about 3" in order to allow room for the clutch fan, but I didn't want to mess with my drivetrain geometry so I decided to leave it forward and use electrics. Because of this choice I will have to have a custom rad built for the summer heat, but one set of electrics will be sufficent for this winter.

I have never seen an engine so clean internally in my life. I cannot wait to fire this engine up.

Re: F350 Cummins 5.9

My dad just gave me a 12 valve out of one of his work trucks that was wrecked. I plan on getting her in as the funds allow.
