Another new wonder device to increase fuel milage has caught my eye recently. The Fitch fuel Catalyst. My first thought was that this is another thing that can't really work, but horsepower tv tested it and Diesel Power magazine (Nov 2007)installed one on a dodge ram and saw a 1.15 mpg initial improvement. Anyone have any other first hand experience on if these things actually work?
gjs1,
The U.S. Military did or is doing an evaluation on this device. Perhaps you can Google around to see if they have posted any results??
Had some time this morning and after a checking a reading several reports and claims,,,I know nothing!
The University of Connecticut did a study and posted the results that confirm the Fitch Catalyst changes the chemical composition of stale diesel fuel and the result is a better burning fuel.
Most engineering sites declare the device "snake oil!!!"
Unfortunately, an oil engineer, Dave MANN, claims it works as advertized.
The Navy is alledged to have purchased and installed 7000 units and all arms of the U.S. Armed Forces have appeared to have tested the device, but NOWHERE can I find posted results of these tests!
Not much help, but one person did say...IF IT WORKS SO WELL, WHY IS IT NOT ON EVERY NEW CAR!?

Not much help, but interesting reading! </div></div>
MPG has not been a selling point in recent years. As a population the manufactures know that we've responded, with our wallets, mainly to increased Hp numbers not fuel mileage so why add anything that adds to cost of their product in a tight market.
Diesel Power has tested another one of these devices, and it successfully increased milage in a test truck. Has anyone put one of these tested one in their own vehicle?
