See the video here . He was towing a 14 ft Uhaul truck on low boy trailer and could not keep up with a 2500 Dodge pickup towing a 5th wheel TT and CJ Jeep on I-10 in Texas.
I only watched about 6 min. before I got bored. The fact is I cannot actually believe that the chebby driver actually was driving that truck overheating the engine. Next thing we will see is some poor homeowner buying that truck/engine and having problems with the engine not performing like it should.Seems like the wrong person is getting sued. It is said if you sit by the river and watch the water flow by long enough, your enemies will pass by. This I believe to be true. It is also possible to watch your loved ones pass by as well.

It's all the proof GM needs to void his warranty. Guages, messages, alarms, co-pilot all trying to alert him. And the genious kept on driving....

How does he know the "Reg'ler Ole Dodge" doesn't doesn't have 600 hp. What a joke. It's guys like him that don't get out of the fast lane that cause problems for big trucks and Reg'ler ole Dodge's and Ford's. I sure wouldn't want that truck after he pushed it at redline for the whole test video.

What a Bozo…..I like how he is telling us that the speed limit is 80 for cars, 70 for trucks and he can only make about 57 MPH….while he is hogging the hammer lane and cars are forced to pass him on the right!
If I were the judge I’d give him a ticket for obstructing traffic after the fact.

In theory, practice and theory are the same.
In practice, they are not.
Is LLM Duramax a package? I don't know much about the Duramax.
Have a buddy who's work got him one to tow heavy trailers for ag deliveries. It's a 04 or 05 Duramax w/ Allison. He does stop and go & freeway travel. He doesn't tow at 70+ MPH though....and it's not that hot here all that often- this year was the exception- 95F by 11am.
So this dude is trying to keep up with a Dodge powered Cummins. He has no idea if that Cummins has been modified from stock.
I drive school bus. I've driven 5.9L, 8.3L Cummins powered buses as with new 7.3L Cat engines. On an average day, they can be about 26K lbs, if not more. The 5.9L in bus application (what we have at least) doesn't do well for long stretches w/ hills. It lags behind the 8.3L and 7.3L buses. And these buses have a manufactured GVWR between 30-34K. This guy should be happy that his pickup can pull 20K.
Most of the time, they are not designed to work day in and day out at those weights. And if they do, the person driving is usually (reasonable). If you look at the size of the radiator on a medium duty truck vs a pickup. Even the Duramax in the bigger med. duty Chev trucks have bigger radiators!
As soon as we get an alarm going off, we're rechecking the gauges. When the water temp jumps, I have the heaters turned on to try to help as I'm looking for a spot to pull over.
Maybe it's just me..... but is this guy expecting too much from his diesel?

If he wanted a more 'credible' test, he would have gotten a Dodge and Ford, loaded them w/ the same trailer and U-haul. Plus, get the GCVWR w/ in 500lbs AND then run the video. I wonder if he was driving and running the vid? If he was..... dang.
Edit-
Plus, he had the back end of the U-haul into the wind. How much drag did that make? Most 5th wheel RV's have a streamlined front.
Oh, any one net savvy? Where was the case filed?

Why doesn't he just take it in and get it fixed? (In the hot lane all the way, of course) My buddy's son has a trucking company here and uses his Duramax HARD running to Montana for parts all the time, and he can't say enough good about it. In fact my friend's about to spring for a brand new one, but doing about zero towing, we don't know if the better fuel mileage versus gas pencils out considering the extra bucks for the Duramax.
Whats the guy sueing gm for, him being a dumba$$. Why didnt he just slow down. I mean when I was running my stroke I kept it down to 65 when I was towing. I think all he prooved was he didnt have any sence.

I was only able to watch a bit of it. I think it was 9 minutes in, not sure. I'm on dial up, so forget watching all of it. I think the last part I saw was the Dodge changing lanes to pass a semi..... after that, I quit.....too long to download.

He made the video for show in a lawsuit against the General. Overheating is a common issue with LLY folks, some but not all. He posts quite a bit on TDP and he fabricated some sort of larger radiator for LLY owners that were overheating. I believe he still owns the truck, and he has had the temp gauge pegged many a time with no lingering issues.
I still really couldnt figure out why he introduced the other variable of another truck into his video. I dont think that was necessary.
