On another site, it is being reported that the guy actually won his suit against GM and was awarded $30K plus the truck.... Don't know if that's true or not, but that's what's being said.
As foolish as that video is, from what I gather, his intention was to prove that the truck was incapable of being driven at the max GCWR without overheating....
As for why he wasn't using OD, according to my Uncle (a die-hard GM fan and D-Max/Allison owner), the Allison is not capable of towing at max GVWR/GCWR in OD over the long term, without damage. I don't have any first hand knowledge of whether this is true or not, but that's what he told me and I don't see him making up something that would shed a bad light on his favorite truck..... HOWEVER if what he said is true, it might explain why the guy would've been towing in direct instead of OD.
Still, I find it ludicrous that any jury would find in his favor, considering the severe abuse he was putting that truck through... It was hard for me to watch him abuse it that way.....

From what I gather GM refuses to admit they have a problem with the LLY. There are a lot of angry owners that can't get their trucks fixed under warranty. He proved his point and got the money. By the way, you can't even post that video on some GM sites.
Is it the singing or the song that is getting the chevy driver the bad press? Who cares what he was following, the truck should have pulled that load without overheating. As far as the cell, video, and laptop comments I remember reading a variety of posts about some sort of mobile office option, making DVD's play while you are moving, and a variety of GPS and laptop programs that seemed like they were designed for use in the truck on the go. Good for him, I hope he did win.

The most ridiculous part of all this is that GM STILL refuses to EVEN ADMIT they have an issue. Imagine how frustrating that has to be for the guys towing with an LLY? Total BS. Stock 6.0 Fords were fixed under warranty. I'll keep my Ford.
