With all the brew ha ha about low sulfur in diesel trucks, which should EVENTUALLY be a good thing, I was wondering if home heating oil will also be low sulfur? I know the clean air benefits in diesels but also think the same technology would apply to home heating oil? Anyone know if the low sulfur change will extend to home heating oil?

The one question I've had on my mind for a while...
What is the suitability of biodiesel for heating oil? It works great in diesel trucks, doesn't finance despotic countries and people don't have to die in wars to secure oil reserves.
Any thoughts on this?
Even just running 1% biodiesel in your truck give the fuel a 65% lubricity boost. And no sulfur emissions to worry about.

Here in Pa. there are 2 home heating oil companies that I know of that sell biodiesel blend. One sells B5 and the other sells B10. The company that sell the B10 also sells B100 at their buisness in either containers that you provide or they can deliver it in bulk. Keith

home heating oil IS diesel fuel. It is all #2 fuel oil.

I know this, but my question was will home heating oil remain high sulfur or will it too become the required very low sulfur?

I was told by a diesel fuel distributor the method for reducing sulphur content involve the spraying of a water jet into the fuel ( I am not learned enough to quote the chemical/mechanical reaction ) which not only will increase the cost but also make your water separator work a lot harder. They are meeting the 2007 california emissions standard sooner. I hope my pickup makes it to Puyallup without stalling
don't shoot the messenger !
