mercedes 300td diesel..won't start - Diesel Forum

Hello all... First of all does anybody know of any good mercedes diesel forums? I am looking at buying a broke 87 mercedes diesel for resonabley cheap, the guy says it won't start (fuel prob, he says glow plugs), but it should start anyways since its not cold down here in texas yet. any advice would be great. Thanks

Used to be called the Mercedesshop but now it is Peachparts (who knows the guy is from GA). Lots of good info there. The 87 had the 603 engine as I recall which had the nick name "rodbender". Had a flaw in the heads that was usually instigated by overheating. Be carefull esecially if it is not running. Check the oil for coolant and the coolant for oil. Here is a link to the site.
