"Valdez advises Americans who own pickup trucks equipped with secondary fuel tanks to not drive those vehicles into Mexico, even if they aren't purchasing diesel fuel. "Any pickup with an auxiliary fuel tank may be confiscated," he says."

I'm pretty sure they are talking about aux tanks mounted up in the bed...

They are upset about Americans buying diesel?

How about we bill Mexico for all the Medical expenses incurred by Mexican Nationals who entered illegally? We could also bill them for housing convicted Mexican felons that entered our country and commited crimes.

Americans are not helping the Mexican economy by crossing the border to buy fuel. Fuel costs are heavily subsidized by Pemex, the Mexican oil company. I can understand why Mexicans wouldn't want Americans crossing the border just to buy fuel to burn in the USA.

Pemex wants to reduce the subsidies as oil production is slowly declining in Mexico.

If an American is actually burning the fuel in Mexico I am sure there wouldn't an issue.

If I read it correctly, connect the fuel tank to the trucks fuel system, and you have found a way around the law.

Or Aero tanks makes replacements that go under the bed replacing the stock tank, that can hold 60 or 80 gallons.

What if they have a limit on how much you can buy even though you have one tank?

Must be in certain places, we (me and about 5 other individuals) have been going down there for about 4-5 mths now and getting fuel, each one of us have aux. bed tanks that we fill up, now they are "plumbed" into the trucks fuel system or tanks and none of us have had any problems, I usually try and hit it when my tanks are both near empty and so is my aux. tank so I can top them all off ~100 gallons, the station we go to is more than happy to see us, as we all pay in U.S. cash, then when comeing back across if the boarder guards asks anything about getting fuel we say yes sir, they ask if they can look and see if it is plumbed into the truck to which we say sure, they do, see the plumbing and tell us thank you and we are on our way, not once have we had any issues with it, we did ask about filling 55 gallon drums for "generators" at the ranch and was told no we cant do that......

stay safe out there
Roy
